Student Review Process
Due to the demanding nature of elementary school teaching, the Physical Education major requires a 3.0 GPA from its students. Students will be required to pass a sophomore grade review after the midway point of their sophomore year, and a junior review portfolio at the midway point of their junior year in order to pass on to student teaching and licensure.
Policy regarding Physical Education majors who cannot student teach
Physical Education students who have reached their junior or senior year and cannot student teach either because they do not meet the minimum 3.0 GPA requirement, or another issue arises, will substitute student teaching with an internship that is designed by the student and their departmental advisor. This allows the students to still complete their degree, but will not be recommended for teaching certification.
Content Core
In addition, students must take the following Coaching Certification courses:
| CHCT 202 | Theory & Technique of Coaching | 3 |

Wellness Electives
Physical Education students must take 12 credits in Wellness from an approved (restricted) list defined by the Education Department. Students should work with their advisor to choose courses that meet the Education department's requirements and suit their interests.
