Hartwick College’s Healthcare Administration major is distinctive as it is intentionally and robustly grounded in the liberal arts and guided by the belief that a liberal arts education is indeed pragmatic, offering excellent preparation for dealing with the challenges of today. The curriculum is designed to provide students with the diverse set of skills and knowledge required to enter the healthcare administrative workforce and to excel in terms of the leadership and complex problem-solving needed in the intricate world of healthcare management. 

Increasingly, students are deeply concerned about having the opportunity to pursue a major that offers a concrete, practical path to a professional career. The healthcare administration major provides a direct route to a well paying career that is in high and growing demand, as well as the opportunity to do real good and build on Hartwick College’s strength and reputation and the healthcare sector. Entry-level healthcare administration jobs include: long-term care administrator in training; home health administrative assistant, prior authorization representative; medical scribe; hospital unit clerk; medical office manager; patient services representative; healthcare recruiter; pharmaceutical sales representative; medical billing manager; medical insurance claims specialist; and clinical data manager among many others.
