BUSA 598 Case Study Research Methodology
BUSA 598 introduces students to the rigorous foundations of qualitative and mixed-methods case study research within contemporary business organizations. This course demystifies the process of investigating complex, real-world phenomena within their real-life contexts— especially when the boundaries between phenomenon and context are not clearly evident. Students explore case study design architectures (single vs. multiple case designs), screening strategies, data collection protocols, and methods for establishing construct validity, internal/external validity, and reliability. By analyzing seminal methodologies, learners gain the tools to collect multi-source evidence, construct comprehensive case study databases, execute thematic pattern-matching, and translate complex qualitative evidence into scientifically defensible strategic insights.
