EDUC 507 Technology & AI in Education
This course examines the evolving role of technology and artificial intelligence in teaching, learning, and educational leadership. Students critically explore emerging tools, digital literacies, and ethical considerations surrounding data, access, and human agency in technologically mediated classrooms. Through readings, applied analysis, and design-based projects, candidates investigate how innovation can enhance equity, creativity, and authentic learning while reflecting on the limitations and moral responsibilities inherent in AI-driven education. The course emphasizes thoughtful integration of technology as both a pedagogical and philosophical endeavor. Course meets online. The purpose of this course is to prepare graduate students to engage critically and intentionally with technology and artificial intelligence in educational contexts. Candidates will examine how digital tools shape knowledge, learning, and decision-making, and will explore the opportunities and challenges associated with their use. Emphasis is placed on developing the ability to evaluate, design, and implement technology in ways that enhance learning while preserving human judgment, ethical responsibility, and professional integrity. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to integrate technology as a meaningful component of teaching and leadership, rather than as a substitute for thinking. Offered in January.
