EDUC 501 Curriculum & Pedagogy
An advanced graduate seminar examining curriculum theory, pedagogical design, and the moral dimensions of teaching. The course traces the intellectual, historical, and philosophical foundations of curriculum, engaging both classical traditions and contemporary critiques. Through scholarly reading, discussion, and research, students explore how curriculum both reflects and shapes culture, power, and purpose in schooling, developing their capacity as reflective, creative, and socially conscious educators. The purpose of this course is to prepare graduate students to approach curriculum and pedagogy as dynamic, contextual, and interpretive processes. Candidates will analyze how social, cultural, and political forces shape the aims and structures of schooling, and they will consider how theory informs ethical and inclusive practice. Prerequisite
Matriculation in the Master of Arts in Teaching or Master of Education degree program.
