ART 363 Metal Fabrication and Casting
This course will introduce students to the basics of welding, cutting, and steel fabrication, as well as make ceramic shell molds for bronze casting. The class will culminate in a hot metal pour where students will learn and partake in the bronze casting process. For fabrication, we will use the mig welder, oxy acetylene torch and cutter, drill press, horizontal bandsaw, forge, and sheer. Projects will encourage students to think practically about fabrication and also conceptually, considering how metal can be a stable, and also fluid, material.
