ART 365 Fiber Arts

This course will introduce students to traditional fiber methods such as weaving, sewing, embroidery, and handmade paper, and in conjunction with contemporary practices like using found objects and creating sculpture out of soft materials. Assigned projects will encourage students to draw inspiration from architecture, furniture, the figure, and other organic forms. Students will research fiber artists from mid-century to the present and will consider their work in the broader context of the history of Fiber Art.
