HIST 201 Colonial Latin America
This course is intended to survey the history of Latin America from the Iberian conquest in the early 16th century to the emergence of new states during the nineteenth century. We will discuss historical processes by which both the powerful and the powerless actively participated in making Latin America as a part of the New World. We will also examine how race, ethnicity, gender, and class were interwoven into colonial Latin American history.
