HIST 150 TIH: Intro to Native American History
Thousands of years before any European ever set foot in the "New World" there were hundreds of vibrant Native cultures and languages that thrived in what is know today as the Americas. For far too long this period of history has been overlooked, if not ignored, and it is because of this inadequacy and deficiency that this course will begin its introduction into Native America at this point. Following this the legal mechanisms that colonizers used to displace and dispossess Natives will be revealed and examined. The course will then study three or four specific Native cultures by exploring their traditions, stories, and history.
