PUBH 240 Social and Behavioral Public Health
This course is designed to familiarize students with the social and behavioral science fundamentals as they are applied to public health practice. The course surveys social and behavioral sciences principles, models and theories that are the most effective and useful for addressing specific public health problems. The course will review social and behavioral determinants of health and consider these in the context of behavior change theories. Students will learn how to effectively evaluate various public health efforts (health promotion, disease prevention, communication campaigns, programs and interventions) that use behavior change theories, and understand how to apply behavior change theories when designing and implementing a public health initiative.
