HIST 334 Jacksonian America

This course examines the United States between 1815 and 1848. Topics include the historiography of the period; Native and white America; the construction of “democracy” and citizenship; transformations in labor; evangelical religion; the emergence of reform movements; expansionism; women’s lives and the woman movement; the growth of plantation agriculture; slave resistance; research methods; and historical writing.
