ECON 133 Economics of Sports
In this course, students will begin to critically examine the markets and organizational structures of the U.S. sports industry using the appropriate theoretical and empirical economic tools. Students
will be expected to ask and discuss answers to such questions as "Why free agency?," "Should professional athletes organize into players' unions," and "Do cities gain from professional athletic franchises?" using the core models of economic analysis. The course covers economic models for sports at both a micro and macro level, delineating the impact of the industry to both localities and the nation.
