ARTH 103 Global Art 800-1750 CE

This course surveys the major artistic developments from the 9th through 18th centuries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. The purpose of the course is to foster an understanding of the relationship between works of art and the historical, political, religious, and philosophical context of the societies that produced and made use of them, to explore human cultural diversity, and to build the fundamental skills of critical visual analysis and the concepts and vocabulary necessary for understanding visual communication.
