EDUC 377 The IEP and Assessment of Students with Disabilities

This course will focus on special education evaluation and assessment for students with disabilities in public school systems. The procedures for development of the Individualized Education Program, Functional Behavior Assessment, and Behavior Improvement Plan will be reviewed and analyzed. This course is designed to provide teacher candidates with knowledge, terminology and skills of the basic principles of educational assessment, evaluation and measurement within a P-12 educational context regarding: quality (e.g., reliability, validity, bias), types and uses (e.g., achievement, summative, formative), policy (federal and state), and implementing ethical assessment principles in order to ensure equity amongst a diverse population of students.
