MUSI 230 Intro Computer Tech in Music
This course is offered as an introduction to the fundamentals of computer technology and music as it relates to the needs of the professional musician/educator. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of musical acoustics; the ability to use professional level music notation, music sequencing, and digital audio software; a technical understanding of MIDI, MIDI software and hardware; Web page design; and digital recording and sound editing. The class will progress through a series of exercises and projects that are designed to explore, apply, and expand upon many of the concepts and issues described above. Individual and group instruction will be provided for all exercises and projects. Prerequisite: the ability to read music.
