MUED 301 Contemp Trends in Mued/Elem

This course focuses on developing instructional planning and effective teaching strategies and skills for the elementary/general music classroom (grades K-5/6), including the use of technology, lesson planning, understanding the characteristics of learners with disabilities, childhood development, first language acquisition, classroom management skills, and other current related topics. Several projects involving music technology and its current applications to music education. In addition, this course provides a historical and philosophical background for teaching music to students in K-5/6. Students will participate in field experiences within the community that provide interactions with community leaders and residents as a required component of this course. Offered every spring semester. Prerequisite: MUED 100
