CISC 160 Database Concepts

In today's electronic world the standard method of storing and accessing information is through the use of a database. This class will provide an overview of database systems, particularly relational and object databases. Topics covered will include basic principles of good database design, query languages, file and system structure, database security and integrity. Programming assignments and projects will use native SQL and SQL embedded in a higher level programming language. Prerequisite: CISC 120 or CISC 118.
