NURS 234 Medical-Surgical Nursing I - Th & Lab
Integrates knowledge from the humanities and sciences into the holistic and informed care of patients with select medical surgical problems. Introduces students to the physical, psychological, and socio-cultural aspects of illness as experienced by the adult patient; in particular, the effects of aging are stressed. The use of evidence-based practice, critical thinking and clinical problem-solving skills necessary to provide holistic care to adult and aging patients experiencing common health problems are emphasized. Therapeutic communication skills, therapeutic nursing interventions, levels of prevention and the nursing process are applied in a variety of nursing and acute care medical-surgical settings. Offered in the Fall semester only and in the summer for the ASP students.
