GEOL 307 Petrology-With 3 Hr Lab

The origin, classification and interpretation of igneous and metamorphic rocks. Emphasis on tectonic settings and processes by which various rock types form, and the study of origins and evolution of rock suites through observation, chemical analysis, basic thermodynamics and phase diagrams. Laboratory emphasizes thin section and hand sample petrography. Offered alternate years.
