Minor
Forensic Science

About
The Forensic Science minor will enable students to gain insights into forensic analysis, analytical techniques related to forensics, and criminal investigation practices. This sequence will allow students to grasp the basics related to forensic techniques, which will help situate them to further education in forensic science master’s program or will put them in a good position to learn more in future career training (e.g., at a police academy or a research agency). Importantly, this minor will also allow students to engage in modes of analysis and thinking in multiple disciplines as part of the required load.

Mission Statement
Students undertaking a minor in forensic science will receive training in the fundamental principles and scientific techniques in forensic investigations and how those techniques relate to the criminal justice system. Students will learn elementary forensic techniques, apply concepts from their coursework to real-life examples in the criminal justice system, and develop an understanding of the strengths and limitations of forensic analysis.
