Advanced study of the science of heredity: what genes are, how they are transmitted from generation to generation, how they are expressed, and how this expression is regulated. Specific topics include the mechanics of inheritance, cytogenetics, molecular genetics, molecular cloning, genetic engineering, and population genetics.
