Military Credit
The following procedures are used to ensure every veteran receives the maximum amount of college credit for military training possible.
- Hartwick College evaluates every military transcript received from active duty military and veterans pursuing a Hartwick education. Hartwick awards college credit for documented military training courses and experiences according to the American Council on Education (ACE) guidelines. For credit to be awarded they must be applicable to a student’s program of study. Credit will only be awarded in academic subjects for which Hartwick College offers a degree program. Elective credit may be granted for courses taken that do not correspond to a major at the College.
- A Joint Service Transcript (Army, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard service members) should be sent to the Office of the Registrar and should be received prior to the start of the student’s enrollment at the College.
- The Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) is a regionally accredited institution. Air Force service members should request their CCAF transcript be sent to the College when they apply for admission.
- Students may receive academic credit, up to a total of 30 credit hours, for the successful completion of USAFI Subject Standardized Tests and the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support Program (DANTES). Credit for DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSSTs) will be granted for college-level academic subjects (non-vocational/technical courses) using the minimum score and credit amount recommendations of the American Council on Education.
