POSC 208 Russian Politics
An evaluation of the history, politics, and economics of Russia and its "near abroad" (the countries of the former Soviet Union). The course will examine the post-Communist transitions that have been taking place in the political, economic and social realms and the different form they have taken in different states. Particular attention will be given to questions of democratization and authoritarian consolidation, integration into regional and international organizations, and changes in the political economy. Prerequisite: POSC 105 OR POSC 108
