ENGL 490A Senior Project (J-Term)
During January Term of their senior year, majors must complete a directed study resulting in a critical essay of at least 20 to 30 pages on an author or topic or producing a manuscript of poetry, short stories, or a novella prefaced by an essay. Students will arrange for an informal oral review of the paper involving themselves, the study advisor, and one other member of the department. Open only to senior English majors. Prerequisites: Writing Level 4,
ENGL 489, AND one Approaches (A) course with a grade of C or above. Additional prerequisites for a senior project in creative writing: a concentration in creative writing that includes
ENGL 311 OR
ENGL 312 with a grade of C or above AND at least one 400-level workshop, preferably in the genre chosen for the senior project.
