ENGL 150 Imperial Nightmares (FYS)
This course examines the cultural anxieties embodied in nineteenth- and early twentieth-century literary works (imperialist novels and romances, utopian and dystopian fictions, fantasies, satires, allegories, poems, stories of adventure, science fiction, and horror) by authors including Robert Browning, Thomas De Quincey, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Franz Kafka, Rudyard Kipling, Herman Melville, Bram Stoker, Mark Twain, and H. G. Wells. Prerequisite: None
