About

Anthropology is the holistic study of humankind across time and space, encompassing archaeology, culture, and biology. Archaeology reconstructs past societies through material remains and offers unique opportunities through Hartwick's Yager Museum collections and potential Museum Studies minor. Cultural anthropology investigates how societies organize economic systems, health practices, and political power, with applications to public health, international development, and addressing global inequality. Biological anthropology examines human evolution and biological diversity through coursework including forensic osteology in Hartwick's Anthropology Laboratory. Students develop critical thinking skills and cross-cultural awareness applicable to careers in museums, healthcare, public service, business, and graduate study.
